ASPIRE Lab: Advanced Systems Physiology and Innovative Regenerative Engineering

Redefining Patient Care at the Interface of Physiology, Engineering, and Intelligent Systems

We design and build next-generation technologies for to support patients suffering from critical illness by translating systems physiology into engineered solutions. Led by physician-engineer Dr. Steve Keller, we work to move critical care beyond reaction and rescue toward personalized interventions guided by patient-specific physiology.

Our work spans shock, lung disease, circulatory failure, acute brain injury, and other life-threatening conditions. To inform our work, we intergrate translational experimental models, advanced organ support and regenerative engineering, and AI-enabled analysis of high-resolution physiologic monitoring data. Together, these capabilities let us discover how organs fail and recover and innovate smarter therapies that measurably improve patient outcomes.

We aspire to transform how critical illness is understood, treated, and ultimately overcome.
